- Biography
An Italian citizen, Paola Gaeta graduated with a degree in Political Science from the University of Florence in 1991 and a PhD in Law from the European University Institute in 1997. After early experience as a legal assistant in the Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, she pursued an academic career at the University of Florence. She joined the Faculty of Political Science as an Assistant Professor of International Law in 1998 and was subsequently named Associate Professor (2001) before being named Full Professor in 2005.
In 2007, she was appointed Full Professor if International Criminal Law at the Law Faculty of the University of Geneva and Director of the LL.M. Programme in International Humanitarian Law of the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights. In February 2010, she has joined the Graduate Institute of International and Developments Studies in Geneva as Adjunct Professor. She is a Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of International Criminal Justice and of the Editorial Board of the European Journal of International Law. Her publications include The UN Genocide Convention: A Commentary (ed.) (2009) and The Statute of the International Criminal Court: A Commentary (co-editor with A. Cassese and J. R.W D. Jones) (2001).
